Practice Manager

Job Summary:

The Practice Manager is responsible for providing professional business management, financial administration, development and implementation of strategic business plans, and partnering with physicians and outreach physicians to provide excellent patient care while focused on growth and development of the organization. Must demonstrate an extensive working knowledge of and familiarity with all applications associated with managing a medical practice. In coordination with Clinic nurse manager, responsible for daily management of a multi-specialty clinic. This position will assist in providing the best patient care and access through provider engagement.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Physician Contracts

  • Annual review of provider contracts.
  • Responsible for comprehensive, concise medical staff bylaws (in collaboration with Risk Management and Medical Director).
  • Work with administration to ensure that providers have required certifications,

medical staff licensure, and maintain professional society membership (in collaboration with medical staff members).

Physician Professional Development

  • Responsible for administration of yearly physician, PA, and NP 360 evaluations (in collaboration with Medical Director).
  • Coordinate and administer Grand Rounds monthly.
  • Coordinate and administer other medical staff education, training, and onsite conferences.
  • Locate, organize, and coordinate efficient CME opportunities for medical staff.

Physician Production and Compensation

  • Responsible for monthly physician performance dashboards delivered timely each month for previous month digitally to each member of medical staff.
  • Defined goals for physician, PA, NP coding of work product and production.
  • Monitor industry trends for medical staff practices.

Physician Leadership

  • Regularly round, identify, and understand, and mobilize resources to address medical staff organizational and individual concerns.
  • Oversight of physician schedules, track call days, coordinate call, meeting, clinic, inpatient schedules.
  • Oversee and onboard outreach physician clinics, and telemedicine.
  • Contribute to Preparation of agenda for Medical Executive and Medical Staff Committees.

Physician Onboarding

  • Works closely with all LHC Leadership, Physicians and Managers to ensure effective on boarding and integration of new and providers and service lines. Coordinates meetings and introductions with all physicians and staff at each level.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships and engagement with all LHC providers throughout their employment.
  • Manages relationships with all departments involved in provider employments, including but not limited to Risk, HR, Payroll, HIM, Registration and Quality.

Physician Engagement

  • Advice and collaborate with medical director on issues of provider engagement.
  • Develop system for ongoing and focused professional review.

Patient Access

  • Optimize patient access in clinics
  • Enhance efficiency of medical practice operations.

Research and plan for service line enhancements based on trends and patient needs

 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required.
  2. Three to five years of experience with a strong understanding of medical practice operations and management.
  3. Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Experience in physician management and physician relations positions.
  2. Effective working knowledge of healthcare financial management, specifically medical practice accounting, third party reimbursement issues, and patient flow.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare fiscal management, human resource management and leadership management techniques.
  4. Knowledge of health care administrative systems.
  5. Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
